Virtual box is an application that allows you to run an OS inside your current OS so you don't have to reboot every time you switch from one to another.
Here's some of my favorite Operating Systems:
Windows 7
Windows Xp
OSX
Linux (here are some of my favorite distributions)
did you notice Vista's not up there?
